History and Mission
The Valley Memorial Foundation was formed in 1985 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization to support the mission and long-term financial stability of Valley Memorial Homes. The Foundation provides this support through the building of relationships in an effort to encourage and secure voluntary donations of cash, stock, property, bequests, life insurance, estates, various planned or deferred gifts and grants.
The Foundation seeks such donations from individuals, private businesses, publicly held corporations, other philanthropic agencies and granting agencies.
Ways to Give
Gifts of Cash Gifts made by cash or check are the most popular method of giving. These gifts are convenient and generally tax deductible.
Remembrance Gift These gifts may be in honor or in memory of someone who has touched your life. Honor gifts may be given to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, holiday or other special event. Memorial gifts are a convenient way to remember those who have been important to us.
Matching Gift Receiving a matching gift from your employer or member organization can increase your gift with little effort. Companies and member organizations are often looking for ways to increase charitable giving for their employees or members.
Gifts of Property Gifts may be funded with appreciated assets such as stocks, bonds or other properties that have increased in value during your time of ownership. By giving gifts in this manner you could realize additional tax savings.
Planned or Deferred Gifts Gifts of this type are typically gifts from your will, various types of annuities or trusts or life insurance. We will work with you and your financial advisors to find the gift that works best for you and your family.
Endowment Gifts These funds are set up by the donor to provide financial support for years to come. In an endowment, the initial principal is invested and only the interest is used to support the designated cause. Current program endowments are for Chaplaincy and resident needs. Named endowments have been created for Archie Scott, Clarence and Stella Sande, Zimmer Family, Tweet Family, Adolph (Toby) and Georgia Tobiason, Chaplaincy, Rev. Fritz Rehwaldt Chaplaincy and Bethesda Chaplaincy Endowment.
The minimum gift to establish a named endowment is $10,000. Smaller gifts may be made and added to current endowment funds.
